ABOUT ME!
Hi, I'm Benjamin Trollip, but my friends call me Benjy,
and if you're reading this you must either be very bored
or have an unhealthy obsession with me…EW!!!
Anyway, a bit of a bio:  I've sung barbershop since I
was 13 (1997 - work out my age) in school.  My
school chorus, "The Pocket Edition," won the
inaugural national Young Men in Harmony in 2000.
We successfully retained this title in 2001.
At school-level I sang in "Silken Sounds" and placed
7th at Auckland Regional quartet level in 2000.  In
2001 I sang in "Three Men and a Lady" (as a tenor!)
and we placed 5th at the same level.  In the same
year I sang bass (my proper voice-part) in
"97.5 TKFM," the Auckland Regional Champions.  We
placed 5th nationally.
At Open level I sing in the Auckland "City of Sails"
Chorus, current New Zealand Champions, where I
have been Bass Section Leader since 2001.  In 2001 I My first open quartet, the "Russell Crowes."  Placed 4th in New Zealand
sang in the quartet pictured above.  In 2002 I sang in and 14th at Pan-Pacific level in 2001.  I'm the handsome guy, centre-back.
the quartet below.   Others are; left, baritone Richard Lewis, right, tenor Sean Willmot and
Hope to see you at International some day! :) in mid-air, lead Brian Lee.

Left, my 'second' open quartet, "Four."  In orange, Sean
Willmot (Tenor), blue, Brian Lee (Lead), white, me (Bass -  yes,
my hair went Joe Connelly) and in grey, Brent Redwood
(Baritone).  We placed 4th in New Zealand in 2002.
` NEWSFLASH:  "Four" won our first medal in the 2004 NZABS
Contest, scoring an average of 67.8% to take the Bronze medal.
We now sing with Eddie Tuigamala as our baritone.  I will
have a picture up here very soon.
Check out my chorus in the 2005 contest!  We had a blast
in Salt Lake City and can't wait to come back again. :-)
January 2007 update:  I've been very slack keeping this file update.  Sorry about that.   Most of that is to do with directing the City of Sails chorus and studying for my actuarial exams.   Many thanks to Bob Sutton for giving me the "hurry up."

In 2006 Brian and I sang in the quartet "Overdrive" with Andrew Grieve and David Merriman (both from Christchurch.  We won silver in the NZ contest.   The City of Sails won silver too, my first contest as director.
